Student government is one of the most effective mechanisms for developing the competence of future graduates, and active members can feel more empowered. Despite the Covid pandemic, moving buildings, and large turnover in board membership over the past two years, De Studerendes Råd (DSR) continues to provide both roles as the voice of DMJX students. The resiliency of DSR is thanks to student members like Chairperson Iben Marie Ryberg, and Vice-chairperson Anton Dahl Andersen, who both stepped up to ensure a smooth transition before the Sept. 16 General Assembly election.

“My main ambition in DSR is the student groups … A year ago we had eight student groups and now we have 12, but the amount of money is exactly the same, and prices all around us have risen.”
– Vice-chairperson Andersen

DSR then held an open forum to seek input on student organization funding and other concerns. The event was announced during DMJX classes and promoted on Facebook and Instagram.

About 20 students attended ‘Højskolens Højtaler’ on Oct. 11.

Ryberg and Andersen say student funding and increasing awareness of DSR, and how the organization can help DMJX students, are top priorities for the Fall 2022 Board. DSR welcomes student input and feedback at dsr@mail.dmjx.dk, on Facebook, and Instagram.

“Everyone knows where to go drink beers on Fridays, and most people know which newspapers there are at DMJX. But DSR has been [less well known] … Right now we’re trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t work.
